The 5 Best Travel Apps Every Traveler Should Download

Travel apps can be a great way to create, plan and organize your travel. With an app for just about everything, it’s hard to know what’s worthwhile to download with such limited storage space. Personally, as an expert travel hacker, I have about 6 pages of travel apps on my phone. But for the everyday traveler planning a trip, the five apps below are some of the best apps to help you plan your next adventure. They are easy to use and will give you the power to save money, plan better and enjoy your trip!

TripIt

TripIt is one of the best travel itinerary apps on the market. It’s free, easy to use and very reliable. Users can put any travel itinerary items such as flights, hotels, and even tour tickets and it will create a timeline in the app. The best feature is the ability to forward email confirmations directly to the app and it will automatically generate in your itinerary. Users can attach documents and photos while staying organized. You can easily send your TripIt information to family or friends for safe keeping while away or invite others to join your trip when planning group travel.

CardPointers

For card hackers, CardPointers is a great (and free!) app to keep all your credit card points and cash back organized. The app doesn’t require users to submit any sensitive information and can be used independently of internet connection. You can easily stay updated with your card bonuses and use the “Pointers” feature to help choose the right card for different spending categories. If you sign up for a card through the app, you receive one year of premium membership for free.

Google Translate

This app has saved me from some serious translation mistakes. Google Translate has come a long way over the years, allowing users to hover over text and translate it before your eyes. (Perfect to use on a restaurant menu.) You can also translate verbal conversations, specific words and phrases. Most useful, the app allows you to save specific phrases so you can easily return to them.

Hopper

Hopper is a favorite when you have a destination and dates and just need a good price. You can easily search by airports and use the color-coded days to see the average price. Once you lock in your dates, Hopper will give you the cheapest price per traveller available now and will also let you know the likelihood based on algorithm data of the price going up or down. If Hopper tells you to wait on a fare to get a better price, you can watch the price and get alerts to your phone guiding you on when to buy.

Travel Freely

Travel Freely helps you learn to travel hack and take almost free vacations in the process. They offer a free eBook and manage all your travel cards for you. My favorite part is that they send you emails before your annual fee is due to help you decide if you want to cancel the card. Plus, they always offer the best offer on a card.
