Travel Hack like a Pro (Seven Instagram Accounts to Follow)

Though I’ve been hacking my way to $300 international flights for years now, I’m still relatively new to the overall travel hacking game. Especially when it comes to credit cards. When I came to my husband with a crazy idea to try to spend one month in Europe completely free, I became obsessed with following accounts who do this every day. I’m all for card hacking, but I want to be clear that, to me, travel hacking is more than credit cards. I’ve spent years traveling the world for a fraction of the cost without them. But, Europe For Free brought me into the world of card hacking, and I’ve learned a lot from the experts. Here are seven Instagram accounts to follow to help you learn to travel hack like a pro:

@katiestraveltricks

Katiestraveltricks focuses primarily on family budget travel. Through Instagram reels, Katietraveltricks makes complicated topics, such as point transfers, into quick, digestible content for people new to travel hacking. The accessibility of her content through quick videos is what she does best. She makes anyone feel like they can learn to travel hack! And although her content is largely family focused, there is helpful information for anyone wanting to learn to travel hack.

@maxmilespoints

Maxmilespoints uses reels and infographics to inform his followers about ways to maximize their credit card miles and points to get the most value. His content can seem overwhelming to newbies, especially if you have no context to go off of. But you can quickly learn a lot about credit card hacking with his tips. I especially love his Instagram stories and how he incorporates current ways to gain maximum value out of your cards.

@pennywisetraveler

Pennywisetraveler gives really awesome examples of how she is maximizing credit card benefits while earning points and miles. Using her own examples, Pennywisetraveler makes it easy for followers to learn how to do it themselves. Additionally, she talks about frugality and financial independence within a travel context. Super helpful information to make sure you are “stacking” your points and miles in a way that helps with your financial goals!

@pointstravelher

Pointstravelher showcases a large variety of travel destinations utilizing points and miles to experience luxury travel for minimum costs. She does a good job of showcasing destinations and how she utilized points for the trip. Pointstravelher focuses on hotel redemptions in her posts, but by using her own examples it makes it really easy to see how to best utilize your points and miles.

@thecredithacker

Thecredithacker is a great account to learn more about card hacking, current deals and trends to maximize your points and miles. He updates you with helpful tips to make your travel experiences more enjoyable and less costly. Most of his feed includes quick videos on easy strategies to gain points and miles, or redeem discounted trips through quick tricks.

@practicalwanderlust

Practicalwanderlust has some beautiful images to showcase travel destinations and helpful tips. The couple emphasizes responsible tourism, including socially- and environmentally-conscious travel. Though their Instagram won’t give you point redemptions or credit card tricks, it has a lot of useful information about traveling on a budget for the everyday traveler.

@geobreezetravel

Geobreezetravel does a great job outlining how to maximize points and miles through a process known as “stacking.” She gives helpful guides on how she has saved money utilizing credit cards, cash back apps and rewards programs and how you can, too. Additionally, Geobreezetravel organizes a lot of masterclasses and meet-ups to help other people learn how to travel hack.
