Best place to stay in the Sacred Valley: Glass House on the Rock
A visit to Peru is not complete without a trip to the Sacred Valley. With incredible views, cute towns to explore, and a lot of things to do it’s a must-do.
What is the Sacred Valley?
The Sacred Valley is a region outside of Cusco, Peru known for being the heart of the ancient Inca Empire. The area is known for it’s fertile farmland, mountain views, and many Incan ruins still seen by millions of visitors every year.
Why should you stay in the Sacred Valley?
Instead of staying in Cusco and taking day trips to the Sacred Valley, staying here gives you amazing views, easier access to ruins and small towns, and a different type of experience in Peru.
Personally, I enjoyed my time in the Sacred Valley the most during my trip to Peru. I would have spent more time in the region instead of Cusco. Driving through the region continuously made me stop the car to take photos, find some amazing meals, and just enjoy a slower pace of travel than what I’m used to.
Getting around the Sacred Valley
We opted to rent a car for our trip to the Sacred Valley, which gave us a lot of freedom and save money. For example, the Maras Salt Mines are just $3 USD driving yourself to enter instead of $50 on a guided tour. You can also choose to hire a driver each day in the Sacred Valley but with easy to navigate roads, you should rent a car in Cusco and save yourself hundreds of dollars on your trip.

The best place to stay in the Sacred Valley
We loved our stay at the Glass House on the Rock. (So much so I decided to write a post about it!) The home was cozy and inviting with amazing views of the mountains, too.
The home is listed on Airbnb and the host was very communicative.
Glass House on the Rock Is located in the small town of Huycho. You can easily get to Pisac, Urubamba, Maras and other towns near ruins and other Sacred Valley attractions.
What I loved about staying here included a full kitchen, where we could cook after a long day driving through the Valley. It was also lovely that there was a fire the host made every night and the beautiful views of the mountains from the lofted bedroom in the morning.

The kitchen was fully stocked with quality spices that made it easy to make meals in the beautiful space. They also have a few restaurants delivering to the property. We took advantage of a pizza delivered via motorbike one evening, too.
The home offers serious cozy vibes. It’s perfect to curl up and read a book, play a board game, or do some yoga. I also think it’s the perfect place to write a novel!
There was also nothing better than waking up to some amazing mountain views every morning. Drinking your coffee with these views just center you somehow.
