Traveling isn’t just for the rich. Seven years ago, making just $34,000 a year in my first full-time job out of grad school, I made a commitment to see as much of the world as possible before I die. I was broke and had no idea how I was going to be able to do it.

Since then I’ve grown to be a pretty savvy traveler, finding jaw-dropping deals. I’m not a nomad, a vagabond or a backpacker circumnavigating the globe. And though I do only travel with my backpack (does that make me a backpacker?), I prefer hotels to hostels and trains to hitchhikes. I just do it at a fraction of the cost.

Above all, this blog was created to share my own travel experiences and expertise with you in hopes that you, too, can find the joy in travel. Because life is too short to not live it exactly how you want to.
